AIR FORCE (X & Y Group Examination)

Indian Air Force conducts examination to Recruit Candidates for their different trades divided as technical - needed to maintain various technical items or machines of Indian Air Force and Non- technical for providing support services to keep these machines well and active twice a year. The technical trade is also termed as ‘X’ group and Non-technical as ‘Y’ group. This X & Y group candidates are called as Airmen or PBOR i.e. Person below officer rank. Male candidates of Science stream in Class 12th i.e. Physics and Mathematics can apply for X group and Male candidates of any stream in 12th class can apply for Y group examination of Indian Air Force.

About

About Airforce X Group Exam: It is an online computer-based exam of 60 minutes in which 70 MCQ type questions from subjects like English, Physics, and Mathematics of 10+2 would be asked. To prepare for this exam, simply join our Airforce X Group coaching.

About Airforce Y Group Exam: It is an online computer-based exam of 45 minutes in which 50 MCQ type questions from subjects of English, Reasoning, and General Awareness would be asked. To qualify this exam, join our Airforce X Group coaching – Garud Zep Academy.


Examination Details

EXAM- GROUP X+Y • Forms- December & January
• Exam- 10 &11 March
• Age Limit - 17 to 21 years

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / equivalent examination with subjects of Mathematics, Physics and English, with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English

AGE LIMITS, SEX AND MARITAL STATUS


• Candidate born between 13 January 1998 and 02 January 2002 (both days inclusive) are eligible to apply.
• In case, a candidate clears all the stages of the Selection Procedure, then the upper age limit as on date of enrolment is 21 years
o 17 to 21 years


Selection Procedure


Physical Fitness Test (PFT):-
Candidates passing the written test are required to undergo Physical Fitness Test (PFT). Passing the PFT is mandatory. The PFT for all trades [except IAF (Security)] consists of a 1.6 km run to be completed within 8 minutes. The PFT for IAF (Security) trade includes a 2.4 Km run & 5 Km run to be completed in 15 minutes & 30 minutes respectively. Candidates above 27 years of age will be given relaxation in PFT timing as per existing norms (Applicable to serving NC (E) s only). Candidates completing PFT faster are awarded additional marks on a sliding scale.


Interview :-
Candidates passsing PFT will be interviewed by a team of Officers &Warrant ranks. Interview is normally conducted in English as such working knowledge is necessary.



Medical:-
Candidates who have been recommended for interview will be medically examined by the Recruitment Medical Team as per



All India Select List (AISL):-


Candidates who pass the written Test, complete PFT within the given time, clear the interview and have undergone medical examination are arranged in the All India Select List (AISL). The inclusion of names of the candidates in the AISL depends upon the performance of the candidates in the selection test and number of vacancies to be filled. Candidates are enrolled in the Indian Air Force as per the existing vacancies.

Being physically fit is one of the most important factor to a defence aspiring candidate should have. Not just a factor it one of the important phase every candidate has to qualify so as to get in Indian Armed Forces.
