SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria

• Educational Qualification – Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
• Age Limit – Minimum age is 18 years and maximum age is 27 years. Age relaxation provided to certain categories as per the government rules.


SSC CHSL Selection Procedure

• 1st Step: Tier-1 Written Exam (Objective Type) (200 Marks) (Online Mode)
• 2nd Step: Tier-2 Written Exam (Descriptive Type) (100 Marks) (Offline Mode)
• 3rd Step: Tier-3 Skill Test / Typing Test (candidates who qualify the tier-2 exam will be called for Skill Test / Typing Test)
In Case of Tie
In case where more than one candidate score equal aggregates marks, a tie breaker will be applied:
• Marks score in written examination.
• According to the date of birth, who is senior in the age.
• Alphabetical order in which first names of the candidates appear.

Tier-1 Examination


The exam will contain objective type questions. Each question will have four options. Candidates have to choose one option which they think correct. The Staff Selection Commission Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam will contain the negative marking of ¼ marks for each wrong answer. So candidates must be very careful while answering the question.
• Exam is objective type and will be conducted online
• Exam will have 100 questions for 200 marks.
• Duration of the exam is 60 Minutes.
• There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.

Tier-2 Examination


• Exam is descriptive type and will be conducted offline (pen & paper mode).
• Candidates need to write essay / précis / letters / application writing etc.
• Exam carries 100 marks and exam duration will be 1 hour.
Exam will have to be written either in Hindi or in English.

Tier-3 Skill Test / Typing Test :


• Typing Test: Candidates, who are opting English typing, should have typing speed of 35 words per minute and those candidates who are opting Hindi typing should have typing speed of 30 words per minute. Typing test will be applicable for Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant, LDC and Court Clerk posts.
• Skill Test: Data Entry Speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour on computer. Skill test will be applicable only for Data Entry Operator post.


SYLLABUS:

General Intelligence:-
It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on Semantic Analogy, Symbolic operations, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Trends, Figural Analogy, Space Orientation ,Semantic Classification, Venn Diagrams, Symbolic/Number Classification, Drawing inferences,Figural Classification, Punched hole/pattern-folding & unfolding , Semantic Series, Figural Pattern – folding and completion, Number Series, Embedded figures, Figural Series, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Emotional Intelligence, Word Building, Social Intelligence, Coding and de-coding, Other sub-topics, if any Numerical operations.



English Language:-
Spot the Error, Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms/Homonyms, Antonyms, Spellings/ Detecting Mis-spelt words, Idioms & Phrases, One word substitution, Improvement of Sentences, Active/ Passive Voice of Verbs, Conversion into Direct/Indirect narration, Shuffling of Sentence parts, Shuffling of Sentences in a passage, Cloze Passage, Comprehension Passage.

Quantitative Aptitude: :-


ARITHMETIC:
Number Systems: Computation of Whole Number, Decimal and Fractions, Relationship between numbers
Fundamental Arithmetical Operations: Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest (Simple and Compound), Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Allegation, Time and distance, Time and work.
ALGEBRA:Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra and Elementary surds (simple problems) and Graphs of Linear Equations.
GEOMETRY: Familiarity with elementary geometric figures and facts:
Triangle and its various kinds of centres, Congruence and similarity of triangles, Circle and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles.
MENSURATION: Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square Base.
TRIGONOMETRY: Trigonometry, Trigonometric ratios, Complementary angles, Height and distances (simple problems only) Standard Identities like sin20 + Cos20=1 etc.,
STATISTICAL CHARTS : Use of Tables and Graphs: Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar-diagram, Pie-chart


General Awareness

Questions are designed to test the candidate‟s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions are also designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General policy and scientific research.
